  • The Execution of Mary Stuart is a short film produced in 1895. The film depicts the execution of Mary, Queen of Scots. The 18-second-long film was produced by Thomas Edison and may have been the first film in history to use trained actors, as well as one of the first to use editing for the purposes of special effects. The film shows an uncredited, blindfolded actress being led to the execution block.

It was first screened on June 10, 1895. It has the distinction of being the earliest known instance of film comedy, as well as the first use of film to portray a fictional story.

It is an animated movie made of 636 individually images hand painted in 1893. The film showed off Emile's invention, the Theatre Optique. It was shown at the Musée Grévin from December 1894 until March 1900.

The film consists of a single shot of a boat leaving the port, being rowed into rough seas by three men. This scene is observed by two women and children who are standing on a nearby jetty.
  • Bauerntanz zweier Kinder (also known as Italienischer Bauerntanz or Italian Folk dance) is an 1895 German short black-and-white silent documentary film directed by Max Skladanowsky. The film captures two children from Ploetz-Lorello, performing a dance. It was one of a series of films produced to be projected by a magic lantern and formed part of the Wintergarten Performances, the first projections of film in Europe to a paying audience.

  • In printing, anilox is a method used to provide a measured amount of ink to a flexo printing plate. An anilox roll is a hard cylinder, usually constructed of a steel or aluminum core which is coated by an industrial ceramic whose surface contains millions of very fine dimples, known as cells.
  • Pencho Petkov Slaveykov (27 April 1866 – 10 June 1912) was a noted Bulgarian poet and one of the participants in the Misal ("Thought") circle. He was the youngest son of the writer Petko Slaveykov. Born in Tryavna during the Bulgarian National Revival under Ottoman rule, Pencho was educated there as well as in Stara Zagora and Plovdiv.

It is a duel-race between the Dartmouth College and Yale University Heavyweight Crew Teams. The race is named after the battleaxe trophy that is awarded to the winner of the Varsity Eight category.
