  • The Hadejia River is a river in northern Nigeria and is a tributary of the Yobe River (Komadugu Yobe). Among the cities and towns that lie on or near its banks are Hadejia and Nguru. Damming of the river for the purposes of irrigation has led to a decrease in the amount of water in the Hadejia-Nguru wetlands, which the river forms along with Nguru Lake. The Hadejia river is now 80% controlled by the Tiga Dam and Challawa Gorge dams in Kano State.
  • Dahiru Musdapher is an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, appointed in 2003. He previously served as Chief Judge of the Kano State Judiciary from 1979 to 1985, and as a member of the Court of Appeal from 1985 until 2003.
  • Jigawa Golden Stars Football Club is a Nigerian football club. They play in the second level of professional football in Nigeria, the Nigeria National League. Until 2007 they played in the city of Kano. After promotion, the team then moved to play its home games in Zaria, Kaduna State because of interference from Kano officials and their ground in Dutse being under renovation until March 2008 .

Nicknamed "The General", Knight has won 902 NCAA Division I men's college basketball games, more than any other head coach. On January 1, 2007, he achieved his 880th victory, breaking the record held by Dean Smith. His 900th victory came on January 16, 2008. He was most recently the head men's basketball coach at Texas Tech before announcing his retirement on February 4, 2008.

He is currently the pitching coordinator for the Colorado Rockies. McLaughlin is best known for being hit by a pitch that almost ended his career.
