  Kogi is a state in the north-central zone of Nigeria. It is popularly called the Confluence State because the confluence of River Niger and River Benue is at its capital, Lokoja, which is the first administrative capital of modern-day Nigeria.   Sule Lamido (born 1948) served as foreign minister of Nigeria from 1999 to 2003. He is a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). In April 2007, Lamido contested and won the governorship election in Jigawa State. He took office on 29 May 2007.

•  Hadejia River

  The Hadejia River is a river in northern Nigeria and is a tributary of the Yobe River (Komadugu Yobe). Among the cities and towns that lie on or near its banks are Hadejia and Nguru. Damming of the river for the purposes of irrigation has led to a decrease in the amount of water in the Hadejia-Nguru wetlands, which the river forms along with Nguru Lake. The Hadejia river is now 80% controlled by the Tiga Dam and Challawa Gorge dams in Kano State.

  Jigawa Golden Stars Football Club is a Nigerian football club. They play in the second level of professional football in Nigeria, the Nigeria National League. Until 2007 they played in the city of Kano. After promotion, the team then moved to play its home games in Zaria, Kaduna State because of interference from Kano officials and their ground in Dutse being under renovation until March 2008 .

  Robert Montgomery "Bob" or "Bobby" Knight (born October 25, 1940) is a retired American basketball coach. Nicknamed "The General", Knight has won 902 NCAA Division I men's college basketball games, more than any other head coach. On January 1, 2007, he achieved his 880th victory, breaking the record held by Dean Smith. His 900th victory came on January 16, 2008.   Michael Duane "Bo" McLaughlin (born October 23, 1953 in Oakland, California) was a Major League Baseball relief pitcher from 1976 to 1982 for the Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves, and Oakland Athletics. He is currently the pitching coordinator for the Colorado Rockies. McLaughlin is best known for being hit by a pitch that almost ended his career.
