    • Arnéguy is a commune in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in south-western France. The village is an important stopping point on the road between Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and Pamplona, Spain, as it lies on the border of France and Spain. It is located in the former province of Lower Navarre. Because of its proximity to Saint-Jean-Piet-de-Port, Arneguy is a popular tourist destination for those travelling across the Pyrenees, although its economy remains mostly agricultural.
    • Gerhard "Gerd" Friedrich (16 September 1917 – 16–17 March 1945) was a German Luftwaffe fighter ace of World War II. He was one of night fighter ace scored 33 victories. All of his victories were recorded at night. Friedrich started his career as a transport pilot. Then he transferred to Luftwaffe and participated in the invasion of Crete. Then He received training as a night fighter pilot and began his night-fighting era when he was posted to III. /NJG 1 at the beginning of 1942.
