A vernier scale is an additional scale which allows a distance or angle measurement to be read more precisely than directly reading a uniformly-divided straight or circular measurement scale. It is a sliding secondary scale that is used to indicate where the measurement lies when it is in between two of the marks on the main scale.
Haramachi (原町市; -shi) was a city located in Fukushima, Japan. On January 1, 2006 Haramachi was merged with the towns of Kashima and Odaka, both from Sōma District, to form the new city of Minamisōma. In 2003, the city had an estimated population of 48,234 and a density of 243.00 persons per km². The total area was 198.49 km². The city was founded on March 20, 1954.
