    • Lu Rongting (1856 - 1927) was born in Wuming, Guangxi, China. Originating as a common bandit, Lu became a military commander in Guangxi in the Qing dynasty and suppressed the revolutionary uprising at Zhennan Pass (now Friendship Pass) on the Sino-Vietnam border in Pingxiang, Guangxi led by Sun Yat-sen and Huang Xing.
    • José Luis de Quintanar Soto y Ruiz was a Royalist military officer in New Spain and a Mexican politician after independence. Quintanar began his military carrier in 1801 as a lieutenant the Provincial Regiment of Dragoons of Querétaro. His entire royalist military career was with this unit, where he reached the rank of brigadier. He fought the insurgents until 1821, when he joined the Plan de Iguala. He was promoted to general of division.
