  • Åsa-Nisse is a Swedish literary character created by Stig Cederholm. The character first appeared in the weekly magazine "Tidsfördriv" in 1944, and later in a series of 20 films, produced between 1949 and 1969. In 1960 it also became a comic series, which is still produced and published periodically in its own magazine.
  • Panchito Pistoles, often called Panchito (and sometimes Panchito Pistolas), is a cartoon character drawn as an anthropomorphized rooster. He appeared in the film The Three Caballeros.   • Herman and Katnip are a duo of cartoon characters. From 1944 to September 1950, Herman appeared without Katnip, who made his first appearance in November 1950 with Mice Meeting You. Their cartoon series, which was distributed by Paramount Pictures, together is essentially a clone of MGM's Tom and Jerry.

  • Southern Pacific 4294 was the last steam locomotive ordered new by Southern Pacific Railroad (SP). It was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in March 1944, and was used hauling SP's trains over the Sierra Nevada Mountains, often working on Donner Pass in California.

  • Wally Walrus is a fictional animated cartoon character who appeared in several films produced by Walter Lantz Productions in the 1940s and '50s. Wally is an anthropomorphic walrus who, in most of his appearances, speaks with a pronounced Swedish accent. In other appearances, such as The Reckless Driver, he sports a New York accent (voiced courtesy of William Demarest). Wally is rather slow-witted at times, and prone to anger when provoked.

  • Junyer Bear was a Looney Tunes cartoon character directed by Chuck Jones for each episode he was in. Although he is a very dumb baby bear he was created for the three bears. Jones brought the Bears for his 1948 cartoon What's Brewin', Bruin?, this time sans Bugs. Here, alpha-male Papa Bear decides that it's time for the Bears to hibernate.

  • Windows-1250 is a code page used under Microsoft Windows to represent texts in Central European and Eastern European languages that use Latin script, such as Polish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Slovene, Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian (Latin script), Romanian and Albanian.   • Achille Richard was a French botanist and physician (27 April 1794 in Paris - 5 October 1852). He was son of a notable botanist, Louis-Claude Marie Richard (1754-1821). Pharmacist in the French fleet and member of several well-known societies of their time. Achille Richard was one of the botanical leaders of his time, and his books are even nowadays valued for their clarity and precision. He entered on 24 February 1834, as member of the French Academy of Sciences (Botanical Section).
