•  Battle of Lake Benacus

  The Battle of Lake Benacus was one of the decisive battles that marked the beginning of the Roman Empire's emergence from the Crisis of the Third Century. The battle was fought along the banks of Lake Garda in northern Italy, which was known to the Romans as Benacus. The battle took place in November of 268 between approximately 35,000 men under the command of the Roman Emperor Claudius II and the Germanic tribe of the Alamanni, whose invading army may have numbered upwards of 100,000.

•  Luitgard

  Luitgard (died June 4, 800) was the fourth and last wife of Charlemagne. She was the daughter of an Alamannian count and married Charlemagne around 794. Liutgard did not have any children with Charlemagne and died on June 4, 800 of unknown causes.

  The Lentienses (German Lentienser) were an Alamannic tribe in the region between the river Danube in the North, the river Iller in the East, and Lake Constance in the South, in what is now south Germany. They were reported to be one of the most rebellious tribes at the time. There are only two mentions of the Lentienses, both by the Roman historian Ammianus Marcellinus .

•  Brisgavi

  The Brisgavi were an Alamannic tribe in the 5th century in the southern region of the Black Forest in south Germany. The Roman historian Ammianus Marcellinus wrote in 354 that Vadomarius was the chieftain of the Brisgavi, and that he was murdered in the year 368 by his own people, influenced by the Romans. Today the southern region of the Black Forest is named Breisgau.

•  Bucinobantes

  The Bucinobantes were an Alemannic tribe in the region of the modern city of Mainz on the river Main. The Roman historian Ammianus Marcellinus wrote that Caesar Julian crossed the river Rhine near Main in 359 for negotiations with Macrian, the chieftain of the Bucinobantes, and with other Alamannic chiefs. After several rebellions against the Roman Empire, the emperor Valentinian I failed in his attempt (with the support of the Burgundians) to arrest Macrian.

  The Juthungi were an Alemannic tribe in the region north of the rivers Danube and Altmühl in the modern german state of Bavaria. The tribe was mentioned by the Roman historians Publius Herennius Dexippus and Ammianus Marcellinus. The meaning of their name is “descendants”, and refers to the ancient Suebian tribe of the Semnoni.

  Perchta or Berchta, also commonly known as Percht and other variations, was once known as a goddess in Southern Germanic paganism in the Alpine countries. Her name means "the bright one" (Old High German beraht, bereht, from a Common Germanic *berhto-, ultimately root-cognate to Latin flagrare "blaze", flamma "flame") and is probably related to the name Berchtentag, meaning Epiphany.
