•  Dorians

  The Dorians were one of the four major tribes into which the Ancient Greeks of the Classical period divided themselves. The Dorians are almost always simply referenced as just "the Dorians", as they are in the earliest literary mention of them in Odyssey, where they already can be found inhabiting the island of Crete. Herodotus does use the word ethnos with regard to them, from which the English word ethnic derives, which appears in the modern concept of ethnic group.

  Aeolic or Aeolian Greek (also known as Lesbian Greek) is a linguistic term used to describe a set of rather archaic Greek sub-dialects, spoken mainly in Boeotia (a region in Central Greece), in Lesbos (an island close to Asia Minor) and in other Greek colonies. The Aeolic dialect shows many archaisms, in comparison to the other Greek dialects, as well as many innovations. Aeolic Greek is most widely known for being the language of the writings of Sappho and Alcaeus of Mytilene.

•  Dorian invasion

  The Dorian invasion is a concept devised by historians of Ancient Greece to explain the replacement of pre-classical dialects and traditions in southern Greece by the ones that prevailed in Classical Greece. The latter were named Dorian by the ancient Greek writers after the historical population that owned them, the Dorians. Greek legend asserted that the Dorians took possession of the Peloponnesus in an event called the Return of the Heracleidae.

•  Mycenaean Greek language

  Mycenaean is the most ancient attested form of the Greek language, spoken on the Greek mainland and on Crete in the 16th to 12th centuries BC, before the hypothesised Dorian invasion which was often cited as the terminus post quem for the coming of the Greek language to Greece. The language is preserved in inscriptions in Linear B, a script first attested on Crete before the 14th century BC.

•  Arcadocypriot Greek

  Arcadocypriot or southern Achaean was an ancient Greek dialect spoken in Arcadia in the central Peloponnese and Cyprus. Its resemblance to Mycenaean Greek, as we know it from the Linear B corpus, suggests that Arcadocypriot is its descendant. Proto-Arcadocypriot (~1200 BC) is supposed to have been spoken by Achaeans in the Peloponnese before the arrival of Dorians; for this, it is named also southern Achaean.

  The Doric Pentapolis or Dorian Pentapolis was a federation of five cities of Dorian foundation, and included: Kos, on the island of the same name in the Aegean Sea; Cnidus, in Caria on the mainland of Asia Minor; Lindus, on the island of Rhodes; Ialysus, also on Rhodes; and Camirus, also on Rhodes.

He is best known for his wryly humorous The Amazing Cynicalman series and the simple “stick figure” art style he uses for it. He was also a regular contributor to Disney Adventures magazine.   The so-called Desmet Method (also known as Desmetcolor) is a method for restoring the colours of early silent films, which had originally been subjected to the processes of either: Film tinting – a process that suffuses the entire image a single colour toning – a process that colours only the dark parts of the image or a combination of the two. It was developed by Noël Desmet, a film archivist and restorer working for the Cinémathèque Royale de Belgique in Brussels, Belgium.
