Ele nasceu em Eguisheim, na Alsácia. No entanto, certas pessoas afirmam que ele nasceu em Dabo, outras em Walscheid, ambas na Moselle.   • Mei Yaochen; (1002 - 1060) was a poet of the Song dynasty. He was one of the pioneers of the "new subjective" style of poetry which characterized Song poetry. Mei Yaochen was born in Xuancheng in present day Anhui Province. His style name was 'Sheng Yu' (圣俞). He passed the jinshi exam in 1051 and had a career in the civil service, but was unsuccessful. He was a prolific poet, with around 3000 works extant; he was popularized as a poet by the younger Ouyang Xiu.
  • Hermann of Reichenau (also called Hermannus Contractus or Hermannus Augiensis) (1013 July 18 – 1054 September 24) was an 11th century scholar, composer, music theorist, mathematician, and astronomer. Hermannus was a son of the duke of Altshausen. He was crippled by a paralytic disease from early childhood. He spent most of his life in the abbey of Reichenau, an island on Lake Constance. Hermannus contributed to all four arts of the quadrivium.

  • Rajadhiraja Chola I (1018 – 1054 C.E. ) reigned over South India as the Chola king succeeding his father Rajendra Chola I in the 11th century. During his reign, he maintained the Chola authority over most of Lanka, Vengi, Kalinga and the relations with overseas domains despite a series of revolts in the territory. He had fought a protracted battle with the Chalukyas during which he lost his own life.
