  • VEB Polytechnik was a company from the German Democratic Republic, located in Chemnitz (then called Karl-Marx-Stadt). In the GDR it was mainly known for producing overhead projectors, called PolyLux. The company was founded in 1870 as Reißzeugrichter and manufactured drawing table tools. In 1874 the founder Emil Oskar Richter invented the bow compass. After switching its focus to overhead projectors in the late 1960s, it was renamed to VEB Polytechnik.
  • Khalilah Sabra was born Christina on the island of Guam in the South Pacific in 1967. Her father was a Catholic of French descent and her mother was American born. She was reared a Catholic and educated in elementary and middle level Catholic schools at Saint Bernadette School in West Los Angeles, converting to Islam after graduating from high school in Southern California. Sabra lived in an upper middle class area near West Los Angeles and attended Hamilton High School in near Beverly Hills.
