Summary

Rob Malda (born May 10, 1976), also known as CmdrTaco, is the founder of the website Slashdot. He is a graduate of Hope College and Holland Christian High School. His moniker originates in the Dave Barry book '; 'Commander Taco' is the final entry in a list of bad restaurants for business lunches. In 1997 Rob Malda and Jeff Bates created Slashdot while undergraduates of Hope College. After running the site for two years "on a shoestring", they sold the site to Andover. More information...

  • Nawaf al-Hazmi was one of five terrorists named by FBI as hijackers of American Airlines flight 77, which was crashed into the Pentagon in the September 11 attack. He was initially dismissed as a "muscle hijacker" following the attacks, but was later revealed to have played a larger role in the operational planning than previously believed. His younger brother, Salem al-Hazmi, was another hijacker aboard the same flight.

  • Renate Groenewold (born October 8, 1976 in Veendam, The Netherlands) is a Dutch long track speed skater and road bicycle racer. Groenewold has won several Dutch Championships. In 1999, 2002 and 2003 she won the Dutch allround championship. On the European Allround Championships she has won various medals. 5 times she came in third in the overall ranking. In 2005 she won the silver medal which was her best result at the European Allround Championships.

  • Gretha Smit (born January 20, 1976 in Rouveen) is a Dutch speed skater. Smit won a surprising silver medal in the 2002 Winter Olympics in the 5000 meter event. She skated a world record broken in a later pair by Claudia Pechstein. Prior to that season, she had not competed in long track speed skating competitions for several years, and had only taken up practice again shortly before the Dutch trials in late 2001. However, she had been a very successful marathon skater in the years before 2002.
  • Lindsay Ann Davenport is a former World No. 1 American professional tennis player. She has won three Grand Slam singles tournaments and an Olympic gold medal in singles. In 2005, TENNIS Magazine ranked her as the 29th-best player of the preceding forty years. She is one of only four women since 1975 who has been the year-end World No. 1 at least four times. Davenport finished 1998, 2001, 2004, and 2005 as the top ranked player.
