    • Gauss Peninsula is a peninsula in East Greenland between Muskusoksefjord and Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord. The second German North Polar Expedition 1869–70 originally gave the name Cap Gauss to a point on the south side of this peninsula, but A.G. Nathorst’s 1899 expedition was unable to determine the position because of the rounding of the coast and applied the name Gauss Halfö to the peninsula as a whole. It is named for the German mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss.
    • Wollaston Foreland is a large peninsular land area bounded by Hochstetter Bay and Young Sund in East Greenland. It was named by William Scoresby in 1822 as a testimony of respect to William Hyde Wollaston. The Danish sledge patrol Sirius has its headquarters at Daneborg on the southeastern shore. The research station Zackenberg is situated further West, near Young Sund.
    • Frænkel Land is an area in East Greenland bounded by the inner reaches of Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord and Isfjord. It was named Frænkels Halfö by A.G. Nathorst on his 1899 expedition after Knut Frænkel, the Swedish engineer and meteorologist on Andrée’s balloon expedition to the North Pole. Nathorst’s expedition was searching for traces of the lost Andrée expedition. In the southwesternmost part of Frænkel Land lies Petermann Bjerg, a mountain 2940 m high.
    • Andrée Land is an area in East Greenland bounded by Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord, Isfjord and Geologfjord. It was named by A.G. Nathorst on his 1899 expedition after Salomon August Andrée, who attempted to reach the North Pole by balloon in 1897, but crash-landed on the pack ice and died on Kvitøya. One of the aims of Nathorst’s 1899 expedition was to search for traces of Andrée’s expedition, whose fate was unknown until 1930.
