  Yad Vashem is Israel's official memorial to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust established in 1953 through the Yad Vashem Law passed by the Knesset, Israel's parliament. The origin of the name is from a Biblical verse: "And to them will I give in my house and within my walls a memorial and a name (Yad Vashem) that shall not be cut off.   Fort Caroline was the first French colony in the present-day United States. Established in what is now Jacksonville, Florida on June 22, 1564, it was intended as a refuge for the Huguenots.   Gowers' sign is a medical sign that indicates weakness of the proximal muscles, namely those of the lower limb. The sign describes a patient that has to use his or her hands and arms to "walk" up his or her own body from a squatting position due to lack of hip and thigh muscle strength.
