Entre 1388 e 1565, a capital do Pricipado da Moldávia foi a cidade de Suceava. A partir daí, a capital foi transferida para a cidade de Iaşi, onde permaneceu até à criação do Reino da Roménia em 1861. More information...

  • The Duchy of Modena (in full, the Duchies of Modena and Reggio) was a small Italian state that existed from 1452 to 1859, with a break between 1796 and 1814. The Duchy was originally created for the Este family, who also ruled Ferrara until 1597.   • The Duchy of Parma was created in 1545 from that part of the Duchy of Milan south of the Po River, as a fief for Pope Paul III's illegitimate son, Pier Luigi Farnese, centered on the city of Parma.   • After the collapse of Lord Palmerston's first government, the Tory leader Lord Derby again formed a minority government, with Benjamin Disraeli as Chancellor of the Exchequer.   • Vauxhall Gardens /vɒks'ɔ:l/ was a pleasure garden, one of the leading venues for public entertainment in London, England from the mid 17th century to the mid 19th century. Originally known as New Spring Gardens, the site was believed to have opened before the Restoration of 1660 with the first mention being made by Samuel Pepys in 1662. The Gardens consisted of several acres of trees and shrubs with attractive walks.

  • The 5th Bengal European Cavalry was a cavalry regiment of the British East India Company, created in 1858 and disbanded in 1859. The regiment was originally raised in Bengal by the East India Company in 1858 as the 5th Bengal European Light Cavalry, for service in the Indian Mutiny; the "European" in the name indicated that it was manned by white soldiers, not Indian sowars. During the Mutiny, a major of the regiment, Charles John Stanley Gough, received the Victoria Cross.
