  Johann Georg Walch (June 17, 1693 – January 13, 1775) was a German theologian. He was born at Meiningen, where his father, Georg Walch, was general superintendent. He studied at Leipzig and Jena, amongst his teachers being JF Buddeus, whose only daughter he married. He published in 1716 a work, Historia critica Latinae linguae, which soon came into wide use.   East Low German is a group of Low German dialects spoken in Northeast Germany as well as by minorities in present northern Poland. Together with West Low German, it constitutes Low German. Although some scientists place this species as a subfamily (Hypsiprymnodontinae) of the family Potoroidae, the most recent classification places it in the family Hypsiprymnodontidae with prehistoric rat-kangaroos.
