Representing France, she won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1977 with " L'oiseau et l'enfant" (The bird and the child) with music by Jean Paul Cara and words by Joe Gracy. In 1981, Marie Myriam also represented France in the Yamaha Music Festival with the song "Sentimentale"; she came in ninth place. In recent years, she has read out the votes of the French Jury at the Eurovision Song Contest.

    • Johann Friedrich Ludwig (1670 - 1752), known in Portugal as João Frederico Ludovice, was a German born architect and goldsmith. Ludovice was born in Hohenhart, Suabia, Germany. In 1698 he went to Italy with his father to work, were he converted to Catholicism and changed his name to Ludovisi. He worked in the altars of the Church of Saint Ignatius of Jesus and received the influences of masters as Carlo Fontana and Andrea Pozzo.

Artistically, Amarante led the transition between the late Baroque-Rococo architecture of northern Portugal to modern Neoclassical architecture.
