•  Saint-Claude, Jura

  Saint-Claude is a commune in the Jura department in the Franche-Comté region in eastern France. The town was originally named Saint-Oyand after Saint Eugendus. However, when St. Claudius had, in 687, resigned his Diocese of Besançon and had died, in 696, as twelfth abbot, the number of pilgrims who visited his grave was so great that, since the thirteenth century, the name "Saint-Claude" came more and more into use and has to-day superseded the other.

  Deutsche Werke was a German shipbuilding company founded in 1925 when Kaiserliche Werft Kiel and other shipyards were merged. It came as a result of the Treaty of Versailles after World War I that forced the German defence industry to shrink. The company was owned by the government of the Weimar Republic and its headquarter was in Berlin. Deutsche Werke started building merchant ships but when the Nazi Party gained power in 1933 the production was changed to naval ships.

  Al-Ashraf Qansuh al-Ghawri was the last of the Mamluk Sultans. One of the last of the Burji dynasty, he reigned from 1501 to 1516. On the disappearance of Sultan Al-Adil Sayf ad-Din Tuman bay I, it was not till after some days that the choice of the Emirs and Mamluks fell upon Al-Ashraf Qansuh al-Ghawri.
