Overview

Summary

In enzymology, a D-sorbitol dehydrogenase (acceptor) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction D-sorbitol + acceptor L-sorbose + reduced acceptor Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are D-sorbitol and acceptor, whereas its two products are L-sorbose and reduced acceptor. This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases, specifically those acting on the CH-OH group of donor with other acceptors. The systematic name of this enzyme class is D-sorbitol:acceptor 1-oxidoreductase. More information...

  • Oliver Elmes is a British graphic designer. He designed a number of logos for the BBC, but is probably best known for devising the Doctor Who title sequence and logo used from Time and the Rani (1987) until Survival (1989). Doctor Who producer John Nathan-Turner commissioned Elmes to design a new opening for the show after the announcement that Colin Baker would not be returning to the series. Elmes worked with a company called CAL Video to produce the new Who logo entirely on computer.
