    • Laurel and Hardy were one of the most popular comedy teams of the early to mid Classical Hollywood era of American cinema. Composed of thin, English-born Stan Laurel (1890–1965) and heavy, American-born Oliver Hardy (1892–1957) they became well known during the late 1920s and the 1930s for their work in motion pictures and also appeared on stage throughout America and Europe. The two comedians first worked together on the silent film The Lucky Dog.

    • Naunton Wayne (22 June 1901 - 17 November 1970), was a British character actor, born in Llanwonno, South Wales. He was educated at Clifton College. He became best known for his role as a supporting character, Caldicott, in the 1938 film version of The Lady Vanishes, a role he repeated in three further films, alongside Basil Radford as his equally cricket-obsessed friend, Charters. The two would go on to appear in other films together, often playing similar characters.

    • Lynn Fontanne (6 December 1887 – 30 July 1983) was a British actress and major stage star in the United States for over 40 years, who with her husband Alfred Lunt was part of the most acclaimed acting team in the history of the American theater. She also won an Emmy award in 1965, and was a Kennedy Center honoree very late in life.

    • The masnavi is a poetic form in Persian and Ottoman literature. The masnavi consists of an indefinite number of couplets, with the rhyme scheme aa/bb/cc, etc. By far the most well-known masnavi is the Masnavi-i Ma'navi of the 13th-century Persian Sufi poet Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi, which consists of six books of poems containing more than 25,000 verses. Many other poets, however—such as the Ottoman poet Fuzûlî, whose Leylâ ve Mecnun was written as a masnavi—have used the form.

    • The Gee Bee Sportsters were a family of sports aircraft built in the United States in the early 1930s by the Granville Brothers. They were low-wing strut- and wire-braced monoplanes of conventional, if short-coupled, design, with open cockpits and fixed, tailskid undercarriage.
