Rockville Union Cemetery was established in 1738 by the Anglican Prince George's Parish. It is the oldest burying ground in Rockville, Maryland and is located at 1350 Baltimore Road, adjacent to the Rockville Civic Center. Ownership changed in 1880 to the Rockville Cemetery Association. The cemetery occupies something over 24 acres (97,000 m²) in two sections, an older, western section of 7.7 acres (31,000 m²) and a newer, eastern section of almost 16.9 acres (68,000 m²).
The Order of Sisters of Charity of Montreal, formerly called The Order of Sisters of Charity of the Hôpital Général of Montreal and more commonly known as the Grey Nuns of Montreal, is a Canadian order of Roman Catholic religious sisters. The order was founded in 1738 by Saint Marguerite d'Youville, a young widow. The order was founded when Marguerite d'Youville and three of her friends formed a religious association to care for the poor.
The Fetter Lane Society was the first flowering of the Moravian church in the UK, and an important as a precursor to Methodism. A short time before the great Methodist revival of the 18th Century in England, Moravians were avidly ministering throughout London. Peter Böhler, the London Moravian leader, and his followers established the Fetter Lane Society in May 1738 for the purpose of discipleship and accountability. They began with the purpose of meeting once a week for prayer and fellowship.
Fort La Reine was built in 1738, one of the forts of the western expansion directed by Pierre Gaultier de Varennes et de la Vérendrye, first military commander in the west. Located on the Assiniboine River where present day Portage La Prairie stands, the fort served as a fur trading post. It was also the base of operations for much exploration north and west. From Fort La Reine, explorers made their way to Lake Manitoba and Lake Winnipegosis, Lake Winnipeg and the Saskatchewan River.
L'Express is a regional daily newspaper published in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. As L'Impartial in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the French language newspaper is published by SNP Société Neuchâteloise de Presse SA. It is the oldest still alive newspaper in French in Europe : it was founded in 1738. Since 2003, the newspaper is part of Hersant's France Antilles group. The newspaper's distribution was 25,115 in 2005. It discusses international, national and local issues, such as local exhibitions.
The Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases NHS Foundation Trust is an NHS hospital trust of the National Health Service in England. It is a small, specialist Trust in the centre of Bath. It was founded in 1738 as The Mineral Water Hospital, and is still known locally as "The Min". Then, it provided care for the impoverished sick who were attracted to Bath because of the supposed healing properties of the mineral water from the spa.
Boswells of Oxford is the largest independent department store in Oxford, England. It has been trading since 1738, initially located at 50 Cornmarket Street. In 1928, it expanded its premises with the main entrance moving to Broad Street, opposite Balliol College and close to the spot (marked with a cross in the middle of the road) where the Oxford Martyrs were burnt at the stake. The store is somewhat traditional in style and is a well-known local shopping landmark.
The Christianeum in Hamburg is a famous former "Latin school" in Hamburg, northern Germany. Founded in 1738 by King Christian VI of Denmark, it is now housed in a building planned by Danish designer Arne Jacobsen.
Midi-Pyrénées is the largest region of metropolitan France by area, larger than the Netherlands or Denmark. Midi-Pyrénées has no historical or geographical unity. It is one of the regions of France created artificially in the late 20th century to serve as a hinterland and zone of influence for its capital, Toulouse, one of a handful of so-called "balancing metropolises" (métropoles d'équilibre)¹. Another example of this is the region of Rhône-Alpes which was created as the region for Lyon.
A wet floor sign is used to warn people about wet floors and so prevent them from slipping and falling.
