Summary

Steve Ignorant (real name Steve Williams) is a singer and artist. He co-founded the anarcho-punk band Crass with Penny Rimbaud in 1977. After Crass stopped performing in 1984, he has worked with other groups including Conflict, Schwartzeneggar (sic), The Stratford Mercenaries, Current 93 (under the name Stephen Intelligent), US punk band Thought Crime, as well as being an occasional solo performer. Biafra first gained attention as the lead singer and songwriter for San Francisco punk rock band Dead Kennedys.   • Gee Vaucher was born in 1945 in Dagenham, East London. Her work with Anarcho-punk band Crass was seminal to the 'protest art' of the 1980s. Vaucher has always seen her work as a tool for social change. In her collection of early works (1960-1997) Crass Art and Other Pre Post-Modernist Monsters, Gee is shown to use paints and collages to show her strong anarcho-pacifist, and feminist views through her artwork. Gee also uses the surrealist method to express her aforementioned ideals and styles.

  • Hanin Elias, is a German industrial/techno artist. She was a member of Atari Teenage Riot and is now a solo artist. After Atari Teenage Riot's non-definitive break in 2000, and the subsequent death of Carl Crack due to a psychosis and drug overdose, the members of ATR split up, and Hanin set up her own record label, Fatal Recordings.

  • Alabama 3 is a British band mixing rock, dance, blues, country, and gospel styles, founded in Brixton, London, in 1996. Bizarrely, in the United States, they are known as A3, allegedly to avoid any possible legal conflict with the country music band Alabama. The group achieved international fame when the producers of hit TV series The Sopranos chose its track "Woke Up This Morning" for the show's opening credits.

  • Jaki Liebezeit is a drummer probably best known as a founding member of Can who has been called "one of the few drummers to convincingly meld the funky and the cerebral". In the mid-1960s, he was part of Manfred Schoof's quintet, who were early exponents of European free jazz. He subsequently moved towards the new possibilities being opened by psychedelic music as a member of Can.

  • Michael Karoli (29 April 1948 – 17 November 2001, Essen) was a German guitarist, violinist and composer. He was a founding member of the influential krautrock band Can. Michael Karoli was born and grew up in Straubing, Bavaria, moving to St. Gallen, Switzerland by the time he finished school. He learned to play the guitar, violin and cello as a child, and played in numerous Jazz and dance bands. In 1966, he met and befriended Holger Czukay, who was his guitar teacher for a while.
