Overview

Summary

The 2006 European Grand Prix was the fifth race of the 2006 Formula One World Championship. It was held on the weekend of May 5th–7th 2006 at the Nürburgring. Franck Montagny made his Formula One debut, becoming the first French F1 driver in 18 months. The qualifying session was affected by a red flag situation appearing on the timing monitors with 3 1/2 minutes left. Unfortunately, this was due to a timing glitch, and the session was quickly restarted. More information...

  • The 2006 Australian Grand Prix was the third race of the 2006 Formula One World Championship. It was held on the weekend of March 31–April 2, 2006 at Albert Park, Melbourne. The race was won by Fernando Alonso, with Kimi Räikkönen second, and Ralf Schumacher third. The Australian Grand Prix had been the season opener since 1996, but this race was held later due to the 2006 Commonwealth Games being held in Melbourne at the time of the opening round. The season was instead opened in Bahrain.
  • The 2006 San Marino Grand Prix was the fourth race of the 2006 Formula One World Championship. It was held on the weekend of April 21st–April 23rd 2006 at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, Imola in Italy. The race was won by Michael Schumacher. Fernando Alonso finished second and Juan Pablo Montoya came third. During the first lap, the Super Aguri team's driver Yuji Ide collided with Christijan Albers, putting Albers into a series of rolls which left his car upside down.

  • The 2006 Monaco Grand Prix was the seventh race of the 2006 Formula One World Championship. It took place on the weekend of May 25th–28th 2006 at the Circuit de Monaco. Prior to the race, Renault's Fernando Alonso had finished on the podium in all of the previous six Grands Prix, winning three of those races. His main championship rival, Michael Schumacher was looking to win the race as it would equal Ayrton Senna's record at Monaco for most wins (six).

  • The 2006 British Grand Prix was the eighth race of the 2006 Formula One World Championship. It took place on the weekend of 9–11 June 2006 at the Silverstone Circuit. Ticket sales were rather slow; the race was scheduled far earlier than normal, and local Jenson Button had a rather poor season the previous year. When the race sold out in 2005, Button had been coming off one of his best years. Also, the weekend clashed with England's first World Cup game.
  • The 2006 Canadian Grand Prix was the ninth race of the 2006 Formula One World Championship. It took place on the weekend of June 23rd–25th 2006 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada. Fernando Alonso took yet another win and increased his championship lead over Michael Schumacher, who finished second after passing Kimi Räikkönen with two laps remaining after the Finn ran wide.

  • The 2006 French Grand Prix was the eleventh race of the 2006 Formula One season. It was held on July 14 – July 16, 2006 at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours. This race was a scene of yet another record breaking milestone for Michael Schumacher, who became the first driver in F1 history to win the same Grand Prix on eight different occasions. Schumacher also achieved his 22nd career hat trick (pole position, win & fastest lap at the same race), also a record.

  • Silver(I) fluoride (AgF), also known as argentous fluoride and silver monofluoride, is a compound of silver and fluorine. It is a ginger-coloured solid, melting point 435 °C, which blackens on exposure to moist air. Unlike other silver halides such as silver chloride it is soluble in water to the extent of 1.8 kg/L, and it even has some solubility in acetonitrile. AgF is made from silver(I) carbonate and hydrofluoric acid.

  • The Herritarren Zerrenda is a Basque nationalist political party in Spain and France, created in 2004 to run in the European Parliament election. Since these elections were simultaneous throughout the European Union, and states were represented as single constituencies, Herritarren Zerrenda aspired for results at the national level in both countries. HZ aspired to group and represent the Abertzale Left, including the outlawed Batasuna (as Autodeterminaziorako Bilgunea had done a year before).
