  Andrei Arsenyevich Tarkovsky (April 4, 1932–December 29, 1986) was a Soviet and Russian filmmaker, writer, film editor, film theorist and opera director. Tarkovsky's films include Andrei Rublev, Solaris, The Mirror, and Stalker.
