Though commonly referred to as a metalcore band, the band has aggressively rejected this stylistic label on several occasions. The band formed after several members previous band Narayan broke up. Dustie Waring and Blake Richardson are also currently members of Between the Buried and Me. Adam Cody is also currently a member of the grindcore band Columns.
  • Despised Icon is a Canadian deathcore band from Montreal, Quebec, formed in 2002. The band is noted for the use of two vocalists; Alexandre Erian, takes use of a mid-range screaming technique, and Steve Marois for the low growling vocals, and high pitched screamed vocals. Despised Icon is known for its work in the underground music industry and have been considered one of the founders of the deathcore genre.

  • Ion Dissonance is a Canadian metalcore band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. They have often been compared to The Dillinger Escape Plan, Gorguts and Meshuggah. Ion Dissonance are known for their technical mathcore style but changed to a more heavy, groove based style with the release of their 2007 album Minus the Herd.
  • Embrace the End are a five-piece metalcore band from Sacramento, California. Originally consisting of only four members, the band has gone through several line-up changes, at one point having as many as six members, including two vocalists. However, after the departure of vocalist Pat Piccolo, they decided to continue on with only Jesse Alford on vocals. They feature/have featured members of the bands First Blood, Killing the Dream, and Alcatraz.

  • Bring Me the Horizon are an English metalcore band from Sheffield, Yorkshire, who formed in 2004.
  • Shot Down Sun was a metal band from Haverhill, Massachusetts, formed in 2001. The band independently released several EPs and a full-length album, The Human Design, which was re-released in 2007 by Crash Music Inc.. They broke up in 2008. The band recently reformed, and are currently writing an EP.
  • Animosity was a deathcore band from San Francisco, California. They released their debut album, Shut It Down, on Tribunal Records in 2003, when the members of the band were 16 and 17 years old. In 2005, they released their second disc, Empires, on Metal Blade's imprint Black Market Activities and toured the United States with Origin and Malevolent Creation. Their third album, Animal, was produced by Kurt Ballou of Converge and released in October of 2007.
  • Formed in 1987 and based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dr. Shrinker was, for the most part, an obscure death metal group, only coming to wider attention with the release of a posthumous split EP with Nunslaughter and a discography CD, released in 2004 by Necroharmonic Productions. Three of the group's members (Tony Brandt, Scott McKillop, Matt Grassberger) would also play in Phantasm, a group in some ways similar to Dr. Shrinker. The Eponym was produced by Eric Greif.
  • Job for a Cowboy is an American death metal band from Glendale, Arizona, formed in 2003. They released their first EP, Doom in 2005, and later that year signed with Metal Blade Records. Their official debut album, Genesis, was released in 2007, peaking at #54 on the Billboard 200 and selling 13,000 copies in its first week. Job for a Cowboy started as a deathcore group, and evolved into a predominantly death metal sound with their full-length debut Genesis.

  • The Concubine is a deathcore band from Tabernacle Township, New Jersey. Formed in 2003, they have since toured with Knife the Glitter, Veil of Maya, Left to Vanish and other similar bands, and have been hailed on metal blogs as an up-and-coming metal band. The group made their recording debut with a 2004 EP, Maestro, If You Will. Their first full-length album, Abaddon, received mixed reviews.
