Bruce "Utah" Duncan Phillips (May 15, 1935 – May 23, 2008) was a labor organizer, folk singer, storyteller, poet and the "Golden Voice of the Great Southwest". He described the struggles of labor unions and the power of direct action, self-identifying as an anarchist. He often promoted the Industrial Workers of the World in his music, actions, and words.

David Sam (born 1933) is a United States federal judge. Sam was born in Hobart, Indiana. He received a B.S. from Brigham Young University in 1957. He received a J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law in 1960. He was a United States Air Force Captain as a member of the Judge Advocate General Corps from 1961 to 1963. After leaving the military, Sam was in private practice in the areas of Duchesne, Utah and Roosevelt, Utah from 1963 to 1973.
