It was opened in 1824. The original building, in Henderson Row on the northern fringe of the New Town of Edinburgh, Scotland, is now part of the Senior School. The Junior School is located in Arboretum Road to the north of the city's famous Royal Botanic Garden.

  • Dulwich College is an independent school for boys in Dulwich, south-east London, United Kingdom. The College was founded in 1619 by Edward Alleyn, a successful Elizabethan actor, with the original purpose of educating 12 poor scholars as the foundation of "God's Gift".   • Merchant Taylors' School (MTS) is a British independent day school for boys, originally located in the City of London, and since 1933 located at Sandy Lodge in the Three Rivers district of Hertfordshire (but within the Northwood post town).   • Shrewsbury School is a public school located in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. It is one of the Clarendon Schools, the original nine great English public schools as defined by the Public Schools Act 1868, and is now a member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference. Shrewsbury School was originally a boarding school for boys aged between 13 and 18. Day pupils are now accepted.   • Kelvinside Academy is a private school in the City of Glasgow, Scotland, founded in 1878. As of 2006 it has a capacity of 760 pupils and spans two years of Junior Start, six years of Junior School, and seven years of Senior School, comprising fifteen years in all. It also offers a transitionary year of Senior Prepatory (formally 'Remove'), which helps bridge the gap between Primary and Secondary Education. The school was originally grant-aided, but became fully independent in 1985.
