  • Paul David Wellstone (July 21, 1944 - October 25, 2002) was a two-term U.S. Senator from the state of Minnesota and member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, which is affiliated with the national Democratic Party. Before being elected to the Senate in 1990, he was a professor of political science at Carleton College.   • Karl Fritjof Rolvaag (July 18, 1913 – December 20, 1990) was a U.S. politician and the son of Norwegian-American author and professor Ole E. Rølvaag. He served as the 31st Governor of Minnesota from March 25, 1963 to January 2, 1967 as a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party. The 1962 election was held November 6, 1962, but the results of the race for governor were not known until a 139-day recount was completed in March 1963.

  • Sheila Ison Wellstone (August 18, 1944– October 25, 2002) was an advocate for human rights, the environment, and peace. She was married to U.S. Senator from Minnesota Paul Wellstone. Wellstone focused much of her work on domestic violence, assisting survivors and pursuing policies to support its prevention. In 2002, she considered running for Governor of Minnesota. However, she died in a plane crash along with her husband and daughter Marcia later the same year.

  • Cyril Archibald (1837 – April 13, 1914) was an Ontario political figure. He represented Stormont in the Canadian House of Commons as a Liberal member from 1872 to 1878. He was born in Osnabruck Township in Upper Canada in 1837, the son of John Archibald and Eliza Dixon. He was educated at Upper Canada College and later served in the local militia. In 1881, he married Gertrude Wood. Archibald served as reeve of Osnabruck from 1866 to 1869.

  • Joel Prescott Heatwole (August 22, 1856 – April 4, 1910) was a U.S. House Representative from Minnesota. He was born at Waterford Mills, Indiana. He attended the public schools, and learned the printer’s trade. Later he taught school and became superintendent of the Millersburg, Indiana School District. He left that vocation and was employed by the Millersburg local newspaper in 1876 and afterward became editor and proprietor. He moved to Minnesota in 1882 and settled in Glencoe.
