  • Georg Hackl (born September 9, 1966) is a German former luger who was three time Olympic and World Champion. He is known affectionately as Hackl-Schorsch or as the Speeding Weißwurst a reference to what he looks like in his white bodysuit coming down the luge at fast speeds. Hackl was born in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria. He won his first Winter Olympic Games luge medal in 1988 in Calgary, when he finished second in the singles event, while placing fourth in the doubles.

  • Sylke Otto (born July 7, 1969 in Chemnitz) is a former German luger who competed from 1991 to 2007. Competing in three Winter Olympics, she won the gold medal in the women's singles event in 2002 and 2006. Otto won twelve medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with six golds, three silvers, and three bronzes. She also won eight medals at the FIL European Luge Championships with five golds, two silvers, and one bronze.
  • Silke Kraushaar-Pielach (born Silke Kraushaar on October 10, 1970 in Sonneberg) is a German luger who competed from 1995 to 2008. In June 2008, she was named sports manager for the luge section of Bob- und Schlittenverband für Deutschland (BSD - German bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton federation).

  • Tatjana Hüfner (born April 30, 1983 in Neuruppin) is a German luger who is the current Olympic Champion and has competed since 2003. She won the bronze medal in the women's singles at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Hüfner won three gold medals at the FIL World Luge Championships, winning two in the women's singles event and one in the mixed team event (also 2008). She also won two silvers in the women's singles event at the FIL European Luge Championships.
  • Torsten Wustlich (born February 2, 1977 in Annaberg-Buchholz) is a German luger who has competed since 1998. Together with André Florschütz, he won the silver medal in the men's doubles event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Wüstlich also won nine medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with six golds and three silvers. His best overall finish at the FIL European Luge Championships was fifth in the men's doubles event twice.
  • André Florschütz (born 6 August 1976 in Sonneberg) is a German luger who has competed since 1993. Together with Torsten Wustlich, he won the silver medal in the men's doubles event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Florschütz also won nine medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with six golds and three silvers. His best overall finish at the FIL European Luge Championships was fifth in the men's doubles event twice.
  • Alexander Resch (born April 5, 1979 in Berchtesgaden) is a German luger who competed from 1998 to 2010. Together with Patric Leitner, he won the men's doubles event at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, United States. They also competed at the 2006 Winter Olympics, finishing sixth. At their last race at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, they won bronze. In addition they won a dozen medals at the FIL World Luge Championships, including eight golds, two silvers, and two bronzes .
  • Patric-Fritz Leitner is a German luger who competed from 1998 to 2010. Together with Alexander Resch he won the men's doubles event at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, United States. They also competed at the 2006 Winter Olympics, finishing sixth. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, they won bronze in their last race. In addition they won a dozen medals at the FIL World Luge Championships, including eight golds, two silvers, and two bronzes .
  • Jan Behrendt (born November 29, 1967 in Ilmenau) is a East German-German luger who competed from the mid 1980s to 1998. Together with Stefan Krausse he won two Olympic gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze in men's doubles. In addition, they won eleven medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with seven golds and four silvers . At the FIL European Luge Championships, they won a total of five medals with three golds and two bronzes.
  • Stefan Krausse (born September 17, 1967 in Ilmenau) is a East German-German luger who competed from the mid 1980s to 1998. Together with Jan Behrendt he won two Olympic gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze in men's doubles. In addition, they won eleven medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with seven golds and four silvers . At the FIL European Luge Championships, they won a total of five medals with three golds and two bronzes.
  • Jens Müller (born July 6, 1965 in Torgau) is an East German-German luger who competed from 1985 to 2001. He won two medals at the Winter Olympics in men's singles with a gold at Calgary in 1988 and a bronze at Nagano in 1998. Müller started for the ASK Vorwärts Oberhof and the BSR "Rennsteig" Oberhof. During his career, he won 14 medals at the FIL World Luge Championships, including four gold, seven silvers, and three bronzes . At the FIL European Luge Championships, Müller won seven medals.
  • Susi Erdmann (sometimes shown as Susi-Lisa Erdmann, born January 29, 1968) is an East German-German luger and bobsledder who competed from 1977 to 1998 in luge, then since 1999 in bobsleigh. Competing in five Winter Olympics, she won two medals in the women's singles luge event with a silver in 1994 and a bronze in 1992, and a bronze at the inaugural two-women bobsleigh event in 2002. She is one of only two people to ever win a medal in both bobsleigh and luge at the Winter Olympics.
  • Barbara Niedernhuber (nicknamed Babsi, born on June 6, 1974) is a German luger who competed from 1994 to 2006. She won two silver medals in the women's singles event at the Winter Olympics. A favorite to make the 2006 Winter Olympics, she was upset at the national championships by Tatjana Hüfner in late 2005. Niedernhuber also won seven medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with one gold, four silvers, and two bronzes.
  • David Möller (born January 13, 1982) is a German luger who has competed since 2001. He won six medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with four golds, one silver, and one bronze Möller also won four medals at the FIL European Luge Championships with one gold, one silver, and two bronzes . He also finished fifth in the men's singles event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino and won the silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver .

Wöller also won six medals at the FIL European Luge Championships with three golds and three silvers. He won the overall Luge World Cup title in men's doubles in 2000-1. Wöller's best finish at the Winter Olympics was fourth in the men's doubles event at Salt Lake City in 2002.
  • Karsten Albert (born October 13, 1968) is a German luger who competed from 1998 to 2003. He won a silver medal in the mixed team event at the 2001 FIL World Luge Championships in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Albert also won three medals at the FIL European Luge Championships with one gold and two silvers (Men's singles: 1998, Mixed team: 2000. Albert also finished sixth in the men's singles event at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
  • Denis Geppert (born January 24, 1976) is a German luger who competed between 1996 and 2006. He earned two silver medals at the 2002 FIL European Luge Championships in Altenberg, Germany in the men's singles and mixed team events. Geppert also finished seventh in the men's singles event at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
  • Sebastian Schmidt (born February 1, 1978) is a German luger who competed from 1998 to 2007. He won the silver medal in the men's doubles event at the 2006 FIL European Luge Championships in Winterberg, Germany.
  • André Forker (born July 31, 1979) is a German luger who competed from 1998 to 2007. He won the silver medal in the men's doubles event at the 2006 FIL European Luge Championships in Winterberg, Germany.
