  • "Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau", usually translated as "Land of My Fathers", is, by tradition, the national anthem of Wales. The words were written by Evan James and the tune composed by his son, James James, both residents of Pontypridd, Glamorgan, in January 1856. The earliest written copy survives and is part of the collections of the National Library of Wales.
  • The leek, Allium ampeloprasum var. porrum (L. ), also sometimes known as Allium porrum, is a vegetable which belongs, along with the onion and garlic, to the Alliaceae family. Two related vegetables, the elephant garlic and kurrat, are also variant subspecies of Allium ampeloprasum, although different in their uses as food. The edible part of the leek plant is a bundle of leaf sheaths which is sometimes called a stem or stalk.

  • The Flag of Wales consists of a red dragon passant on a green and white field. As with many heraldic charges, the exact representation of the dragon is not standardised and many renderings exist. The flag incorporates the red dragon of Cadwaladr, King of Gwynedd, along with the Tudor colours of green and white. It was used by Henry VII at the battle of Bosworth in 1485 after which it was carried in state to St. Paul's Cathedral.

  • The Prince of Wales's feathers is the heraldic badge of the Prince of Wales. It consists of three white feathers emerging from a gold coronet. A ribbon below the coronet bears the motto Ich dien (German for "I serve", a contraction of ich diene = ich dien').

  • The Welsh Dragon appears on the national Flag of Wales (the flag itself is also called "Y Ddraig Goch").

  • A new Royal Badge of Wales was approved in May 2008. It is based on the arms borne by Llywelyn the Great, the famous thirteenth-century Welsh prince (blazoned quarterly Or and gules, four lions counterchanged langued and armed azure), with the addition of the St. Edward's Crown atop a continuous scroll which, together with a wreath consisting of the plant emblems of the four countries of the United Kingdom, surrounds the shield.

  • Mistar Urdd (Mr Urdd) is the personification of the triangular red, white and green logo of the Welsh youth movement, Urdd Gobaith Cymru (The Welsh League of Youth). Created in September 1976 by Wynne Melville Jones, a marketing assistant at the Urdd who doodled a face onto a badge of the logo, Mistar Urdd became a hugely popular figure, touring schools and attending Eisteddfodau.
  • The National symbols of Wales include a diversity of official and unofficial images and other symbols.
