  • Gijón, officially Gijón / Xixón, is a coastal industrial city and a municipality in the autonomous community of Asturias in Spain. Early mediaeval texts mention it as "Gigia". It was an important regional Roman city, although the area has been settled since earliest history. The name was originally applied to a small peninsula presently referred to as Cimadevilla, literally "top of village," between two beaches, one of which has a recreational port today.

The region is part of the Costa Verde (Green Coast) of Spain, which is known for its spectacular coastal scenery, beaches, and mountains.

  • Boal is a municipality, a civil parish and a town in the Autonomous Community of the Principality of Asturias. It borders north with El Franco and Coaña, south with Illano, west with Castropol and east with Villayón. The main way of access to the municipality is the regional road AS-12, which connects Navia with Grandas de Salime. The whole municipality has a population of 2,040 inhabitants, whereas there are about 600 inhabitants in the capital town.

  • Cabrales is a municipality in the autonomous community of Asturias, northwestern Spain. It is situated between the Sierra de Cuera and the Picos de Europa, and is a region famous for its Cabrales cheese. Important towns within the municipality include Arenas de Cabrales, one of the primary objectives of the Battle of El Mazuco in 1937. Nowadays Arenas' economy seems to be primarily based on tourism, although unlike many tourist centres it retains its authentic style – and hospitality.

  • Cangas del Narcea is the oldest municipality in the Principality of Asturias in Spain. It is also the largest municipality in Asturias. It is in the southwest of Asturias, on the Asturian border with León. Formerly, Cangas del Narcea was known as Cangas de Tineo . Cangas del Narcea is also the name of the municipality's capital, and one of the judicial districts in Asturias. Cangas del Narcea contains the Muniellos Biosphere Reserve, designated as such by UNESCO in 2000.

It borders the Bay of Biscay on the north, the municipalities of Navia and Villayón on the west, Tineo on the south, Salas on the southeast, and Cudillero on the east. The rivers Esva, Negro and Barayo flow through the area. The national road N-634 is the main road serving the municipality.

It lies on the road from San Sebastián to Santiago de Compostela, and on a small subtributary of the river Narcea. It is bordered on the north by Valdés, Cudillero and Pravia, to south by Belmonte de Miranda, to the east by Pravia, Candamo and Grado, and to the west by Tineo and Valdés. Salas is a mountainous region in which coal-mining and agriculture are the principal industries.
