  Afghan Turkestan is a region in northern Afghanistan, on the border with the former Soviet republics of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.   Tora Bora, known locally as Spīn Ghar, is a cave complex situated in the White Mountains of eastern Afghanistan, in the Pachir Wa Agam District of Nangarhar province, approximately 50 km (31 mi) west of the Khyber Pass and 10 km (6.2 mi) north of the border of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in Pakistan.   Badakhshan is an historic region comprising parts of what is now northeastern Afghanistan and southeastern Tajikistan. The name is retained in Badakhshan Province which is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan, in the far northeast of Afghanistan, and contains the Wakhan Corridor.   Hazarajat, also known as Hazaristan, is the name given to a region in central Afghanistan that makes up the native homeland of Afghanistan's Hazara people. It is made up of the three central provinces of Bamyan, Daykundi and Ghor and includes large areas of Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Orūzgān, Balkh, Sar-e Pol, Samangan and Baghlan.   The Durand Line refers to the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, which is poorly marked and approximately 2,640 kilometers (1,610 miles) long. It was established after the 1893 Durand Line Agreement between the Government of colonial British India and Afghan Amir Abdur Rahman Khan for fixing the limit of their respective spheres of influence. •  Oxiana

  Oxiana is the region surrounding the Amu Darya River which flows along Afghanistan's northern border separating it from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan before turning northwest into Turkmenistan to the Aral Sea. In ancient times, the river was known as the Oxus in Greek. Robert Byron wrote about Oxiana in his book The Road To Oxiana describing his 10 month long journey to Persia and Afghanistan in 1933-34.

  Balochistan or Baluchistan is an arid, mountainous region in the Iranian plateau in Southwest Asia and South Asia; it includes part of southeastern Iran, western Pakistan, and southwestern Afghanistan. The area is named after the numerous Baloch tribes, Iranian peoples who moved into the area from the west around A.D. 1000. Considered to be a Holy site for a prophetic theories, Deioces built a shrine in 719BC to the honor of "IGAM". IGAM, was prophesied by Zoroaster (Around 1200BC). Zoroaster believed these stars would descend unto Earth and sleep in the womb of a woman. He went even as far as to describe the Earthly parents of the prophetic stars.

  Chakhansur is a sparsely inhabited district near Nimroz (Nimruz) / Zaranj in Nimruz Province in Afganistan. Its population is approximately 406. The economy is primarily based on agriculture and the necessary water for irrigation is dependent on the status of the Sistan Basin, an endorheic basin which periodically becomes dry.
