  • The France national football team represents the nation of France in international football. It is fielded by the French Football Federation and competes as a member of UEFA. France was one of the four European teams that participated at the inaugural World Cup in 1930 and are one of seven national teams to have won the competition, which they did in 1998 when they hosted the Cup. They defeated Brazil 3–0 in the final. France and England share the record of having one World Cup victory.

  • The Tahiti national football team is the national team of French Polynesia and is controlled by the Fédération Tahitienne de Football. They finished second in the OFC Nations Cup in its first three installments, 1973, 1980, and 1996. In 2009 the under 20 team qualified for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt.

As an overseas department of the French Republic, it is not a member of FIFA. Martinique is therefore not eligible to enter the World Cup, Martinicans being French citizens eligible to play for the French national football team.

Although they were only admitted to FIFA in 2004, they have been participating in the OFC Nations Cup since its inception, finishing second in 2008 and third in 1973 and 1980.

Mayotte is a member of neither FIFA nor CAF, so it is not eligible to enter the World Cup or the African Cup of Nations.
