  • Sir Robert "Bobby" Charlton CBE is an English former professional football player who won the World Cup and was named the European Footballer of the Year in 1966. He played almost all of his club football at Manchester United, where he became renowned for his attacking instincts from midfield and his ferocious long-range shot. His elder brother Jack, who was also in the World Cup-winning team, was a former defender for Leeds United and coach.

  • Dino Zoff (born February 28, 1942 in Mariano del Friuli) is an Italian former football goalkeeper and is the oldest winner ever of the World Cup, which he earned as captain of the Italian team in the 1982 tournament in Spain, at the age of 40. Zoff was a goalkeeper of outstanding ability and has a place in the history of the sport among the very best in this role, being named the 3rd greatest goalkeeper of the 20th century by the IFFHS behind Lev Yashin and Gordon Banks.

  • Diego Armando Maradona is an Argentine former football player, and current manager of the Argentine national team. He finished first in an internet vote for the FIFA Player of the Century award, and he shared the award with Pelé. Over the course of his professional club career Maradona played for Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Sevilla, Newell's Old Boys and Napoli, setting world-record contract fees.

  • Franco Baresi is an Italian youth team coach and former football defender with Milan, acknowledged as one of the greatest defenders ever to play the game. Baresi was colloquially called "piscinin", Milanese dialect for "little one". He is also the younger brother of Internazionale assistant manager Giuseppe Baresi. Hoping Franco could play with him in the nerazzurri; Giuseppe brought him for a trial in Inter's youth team, but Franco was rejected.
  • Gordon Banks, OBE (born 30 December 1937) is a retired English footballer, elected in a poll by the IFFHS as the second best goalkeeper of the 20th Century — after Lev Yashin (1) and before Dino Zoff (3). Banks was a member of the England national team that won the 1966 World Cup. Banks was named by Pelé as one of the top 125 greatest living footballers in March 2004.

Professionally, he has kept goal for his clubs to a Champions League title and several Ligue 1 and Premier League titles.

  • Osvaldo César Ardiles (born 3 August 1952 in Córdoba Province), often referred to in Britain as Ossie Ardiles, is a football coach and former midfielder who won the 1978 World Cup as part of the Argentinian national team.   • Peter Phillip Bonetti is a former football goalkeeper for Chelsea, the St. Louis Stars, Dundee United and England. Bonetti was known for his safe handling, lightning reflexes and his graceful style, for which he was given the nickname, "The Cat".   • Thierry Daniel Henry (born 17 August 1977) is a French footballer who plays for Spanish La Liga club Barcelona and the French national team. Henry was born in Les Ulis, Essonne—a tough suburb of Paris—where he played for an array of local sides as a youngster and showed great promise as a goal-scorer. He most notably played five years with Spanish club FC Barcelona, with whom he won the 1998 and 1999 Spanish La Liga championship and the 1998 Copa del Rey.
