  • Rod Cory Langway is a retired American professional ice hockey defenseman who played for the Montreal Canadiens and Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League (NHL) and Birmingham Bulls of the World Hockey Association (WHA). Langway also spent time with teams in the American Hockey League (AHL) and East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). A two-time winner of the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the top defenceman in the NHL, Langway was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2002.
  • Derian Hatcher (born June 4, 1972) is a retired American professional ice hockey defenseman who played for the Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, and Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He is the younger brother of former NHL player Kevin Hatcher.
  • Bryan Wallace Berard (born March 5, 1977) is an American professional ice hockey player, currently a free agent. He was the first overall pick in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators. He is most noted for a debilitating eye injury he received early in his career. He also attended Mount Saint Charles Academy.
  • Brian Joseph Leetch (born March 3, 1968 in Corpus Christi, Texas) is a retired American professional ice hockey defenseman who played 18 National Hockey League (NHL) seasons with the New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Boston Bruins. He is generally considered one of the top defensemen in NHL history, being particularly noted for his skating, offense, and playmaking abilities. He and fellow Rangers teammate Mike Richter were inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2008.

  • Peter Laviolette Jr. (born December 7, 1964) is a retired American National Hockey League (NHL) defenseman and current head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers. From 2003-2008, he was the head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes, which he led to a Stanley Cup championship in the 2005-06 season. As a player, Laviolette spent the majority of his 10-year career playing for various minor league teams. He played twelve games in the NHL for the New York Rangers in the 1988–89 season.

  • Chris Chelios (born Christos Kostas Tselios on January 25, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman currently with the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League. Chelios has also played for the Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, and Detroit Red Wings. Chelios is the oldest active player in the NHL, has played the most games of any active player in the NHL, and has the most career penalty minutes of any active player.

  • Francis Bouillon (born October 17, 1975 in New York) is an American professional hockey defenseman for the Nashville Predators. Bouillon was born in New York City to a Québécois mother and a Haitian father. He was signed as a free agent by the Montreal Canadiens in 1998, with whom he has played most of his career (except for a short stint with the Predators in 2002–03 and another stint with the Predators starting in 2009–10).
  • Brian Christopher Rafalski is an American professional ice hockey defenseman for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL) and an alternate captain of the US Olympic Team for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Prior to joining the Red Wings, Rafalski played seven seasons with the New Jersey Devils. After struggling to enter the NHL, Rafalski has won the Stanley Cup three times and become an effective defenseman in the league.

  • Angela Marie Ruggiero (born January 3, 1980 in Panorama City, California) is an American ice hockey defenseman. She is also the author of a memoir about her hockey experiences and a former contestant on the NBC reality show The Apprentice.

  • Bob Suter is a retired American ice hockey defenseman and member of the Miracle on Ice 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team won the gold medal team. He is the brother of former National Hockey League (NHL) player Gary Suter and father of current NHLer Ryan Suter and Garrett Suter who plays for the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
