  • The International Mathematical Union (the IMU) is an international non-governmental organization devoted to international cooperation in the field of mathematics. It is a member of the International Council for Science (ICSU) and supports the International Congress of Mathematicians. Its members are national mathematics organizations in 65 countries. The IMU was established in 1919, but dissolved in 1936 and reestablished in 1951. The president of the Union is László Lovász.

  • The Nye Committee, officially known as the Special Committee on Investigation of the Munitions Industry, was a committee in the United States Senate which studied the causes of United States' involvement in World War I. There were seven members of the committee, which met between 1934 and 1936. Led by Senator Gerald Nye, the committee also included Senators Homer T. Bone, James P. Pope, Bennett Champ Clark, Walter F. George (D-GA), W. Warren Barbour (R-NJ), and Arthur H. Vandenberg.

  • Solidarité Française ("French Solidarity") was a French far right league founded in 1933 by perfume manufacturer François Coty and commanded by Major Jean Renaud, they dressed in blue shirts, black berets, and jackboots, and shouted the slogan "France for the French". While Marcel Bucard's Francisme imitated Italian fascism, Solidarité française imitated the Nazi party.
  • The Jeunesses Patriotes were a Fascist-inspired street brawlers group of France, recruited mostly from university students and financed by industrialists founded in 1924 by Pierre Taittinger. Taittinger took inspiration for the group's creation in the Boulangist Ligue des Patriotes and Benito Mussolini's Blackshirts. According to the police, the Jeunesses Patriotes had 90,000 members in the country and 6,000 in Paris in 1932.
  • Van Beuren Studios was an animation studio that produced theatrical cartoons from 1928 to 1936. Producer Amadee J. Van Beuren first became involved in the animation industry in 1920, when he formed a partnership with Paul Terry and formed the "Aesop's Fables Studio" for the production of the Aesop's Film Fables cartoon series. Van Beuren released Terry's first sound cartoon Dinner Time (1928) through Pathé Exchange which later became part of RKO.

  • The West Sussex Railway opened in 1897 as the Hundred of Manhood and Selsey Tramway, so named to save having to build the railway to regulations that normally covered railways, later changing its name to the WSR. It closed on 19th January 1935 in the face of intensive road bus competition. Although for many years very busy its finances never recovered from the costs of repairing damage due to floods in 1911, which totally submerged the railway just north of Pagham Harbour.

  • Proletarian Catalan Party was a political party in Catalonia, Spain. PCP was founded in January 1934. Its main leader was Jaume Compte. PCP had its origins in the Estat Català-Partit Proletari, founded in 1932. The goal of PCP was the creation of a Catalan Socialist Republic. The party had a large influence with the trade union Centre Autonomista de Dependents de Comerç i Industria (CADCI). In 1936 Peres Aznar, a PCP deputy in the Cortes, was elected president of CADCI.

  • The Alhambra was a popular theatre and music hall located on the east side of Leicester Square, in the West End of London. It was established in 1854 and demolished in 1936. Its name was adopted by many other British music hall theatres located elsewhere in the metropolis, in Bradford, in Hull and in Glasgow etc. The name comes from association with the Moorish splendour of the Alhambra palace in Granada.

  • The Pecora Investigation was an inquiry begun on March 4, 1932 by the United States Senate Committee on Banking and Currency to investigate the causes of the Wall Street Crash of 1929. The name refers to the fourth and final chief counsel for the investigation, Ferdinand Pecora. The investigation was launched by a majority-Republican Senate, under the Banking Committee's chairman, Senator Peter Norbeck.
  • The All Peoples' Association was a voluntary organisation to foster international amity, established in London in 1930 by Sir Evelyn Wrench, founder of the English-Speaking Union and Royal Overseas League. Membership was organised as national clubs offering evening lectures, libraries, magazines and language courses. Membership in one country's club automatically conferred membership of the worldwide organisation.
  • The Amoskeag Manufacturing Company was a textile manufacturer which founded Manchester, New Hampshire. From modest beginnings in near wilderness, it grew throughout the 19th century into the largest cotton textile plant in the world. At its peak, Amoskeag was unrivaled both for the quality and quantity of its products. But with great size came an inability to adapt. In the early 20th century, the business failed in changing economic and social conditions.

  • Lioré-et-Olivier was a French manufacturer of aircraft of the 20th century, founded in 1912 by Fernand Lioré and Henri Olivier. The company was nationalized in 1936, becoming a part of SNCASE.
  • The Metz Brothers Brewing Company was among the first brewers in the U.S. State of Nebraska, having been established in the city of Omaha in 1856. It was among the earliest manufacturers in the city. After originally opening as the McCumbe Brewery, the facility was sold several times until brothers Frederick and Joseph Metz purchased it in 1861. Metz was one of the "Big 4" brewers located in Omaha, which also included the Krug, Willow Springs and Storz breweries.
