Novodvinsk is a town in Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia, located on the left bank of the Northern Dvina River, 20 kilometers (12 mi) south of Arkhangelsk. It was founded in 1936 as the settlement of Voroshilovsky (Вороши́ловский) serving a pulp and paper mill. It became an urban-type settlement in 1941, was renamed Pervomaysky in 1958 and became a town in 1977, when it took its present name. Population: 43,383; 50,183. More information...
